Big Shark Bicycle Company presents - An Introductory Class on Bicycle Racing
Everything you need to know before you show up to your first race.
Two Sessions, Sundays, February 5th and 12th from 5pm until 6:30pm
General Information:
Bicycle racing is great activity and sport that inspires and motivates athletes to push themselves. For many, there is a point where cycling transitions from an activity to sport, and from sport to competition. This class is designed to provide a great set of basic information that will help any cyclist make the leap to competitor.
We want to encourage and attract new participants to the events we support in all the various disciplines of competitive cycling: road racing, criterium racing, triathlon, mountain biking, cyclocross, track racing, time trialing, and gravel racing.
This indoor class provides a great, welcoming environment to learn about the types of racing, skills, conditioning, and nuances of cycling as sport. The goal of the class is to help interested cyclist understand how to get started in the sport of cycling. You will learn the rules, the culture, the calendar, and leave being prepared to get involved.
Class topics that we will dicuss:
- The different types of bicycle racing
- Rider behavior and etiquette.
- General Rules and guidelines.
- Introduction to race specific training.
- Tips for your first race and event.
- Regional racing and training opportunities.
Where: We will host the event at Big Shark's Big Bend Location, 1155 South Big Bend Blvd., St. Louis MO 63117
What to bring: Yourself, questions, a pad of paper, pen.
