Deeply rooted in Zipp's drive to conquer the Spring Classics, the new 303 Firecrest is remade with a purpose-made approach for the demands of modern road bikes. When it comes to going fast on a bicycle, efficiency means reduced wind resistance, rolling resistance, rider fatigue, and weight. The 303 Firecrest Tubeless Disc-brake was designed using real-world direct measurements (vs. primarily wind tunnel or computer simulation). The results were huge. Its rim is slightly more bulbous in design than its predecessor, with a 32mm outside width, a 25mm internal width, and a 40mm rim depth. The profile provides low drag and an improved transition between rim and tire, boosting aero efficiency on the road. The wide rim stance also features less tire deflection for reduced rolling resistance. The combination of the wider tire, increased tire volume, and lower tire pressure helps to reduce rider fatigue by smoothing out the ride over imperfect pavement and road conditions—the tire and wheel system absorbs the shaking, not the rider. The wheel's 25mm internal width is ideal for running wider tubeless tires at reduced air pressure for a more efficient ride. Zipp's 404 Firecrest Carbon Clincher wheelset is a testament to all-around advancement in wheel design. Its 58mm aero depth and wide profile provides proven performance in all situations, and at 1,690g (700c), you'll feel confident staying the course in less-than-ideal conditions. Whether you're looking for everyday riding performance or a race day wheelset to stay ahead of the pack, the 404 Firecrest has a great balance of weight, stability, and efficiency that complements strong riders. Zipp's 77/177 hubset, laced with Sapim CX-Sprint spokes, provides maintenance-free reliability and lateral stiffness, while trusted stopping power is supplied via Tangente Platinum Pro Evo brake pads. Included with each wheel are a Zipp-integrated Valve Extender with valve-core wrench, rim tape, and quick release.

Package comes with two pieces of rim tape for use with the Zipp clinchers. Woven nylon material. Tape is extra thin with a thickness of 0.5 mm. Note: For Zipp 700c and 650c aluminum/carbon hybrid clichers, use the 16 mm rim tape. For Zipp 30 wheel set use 18mm but for the wider Firecrest and Firestrike carbon clinchers use the 20mm x 1/2mm rim tape.

These die-cut borderless decals provide a distinctive look to go with the distinctive sound and aero-advantage of Zipp wheels rolling at 45km an hour. Zipp’s Matte white and Matte black decals also are still available. Each decal kit has seven decals sufficient to cover one wheel and two matching valve-hole decals. Note: Before applying the decals, make sure the rim surface is free of dirt and debris. We recommend a gentle wipe with acetone or rubbing alcohol. Peel the white backing sheet from the decal, orientate, position and gently press the decal onto the rim surface. Starting at one end, remove the surface clear cover slip and then work the decal into the dimples using a 3M squeegee.

The translucent material shows you exactly where the tape makes contact.
