Little and Junior Shark Triathlon Team
To motivate, encourage, and train youth and junior athletes to reach new levels of skill development in the sport of triathlon. Training provided with expert coach supervision and in safe areas with FUN as the focus, as we build on our skills. Team building, race volunteering, mentoring and community involvement are a big part of our team. We learn to support each other and appreciate our individual and team opportunities and resources.
Team practices are supported by Libby Fennewald, USAT Youth & Junior Coach and training partners Sally Drake Endurance, Athletic Republic, Power Up Cycling, and Big Shark Racing.
- Team practice – April through summer
- Swim workshops – Winter dependent on pool availability/summer open water
- Indoor/virtual bike workouts – February through early spring
- Triathlon skills & drills – April through summer
- Indoor run & strength – February through early spring
Youth & Juniors ages 8-16, in good health with no medical conditions, or cleared by a licensed physician.
Athlete target distances to ensure team success:
Youth – Swim freestyle 100 yards without stopping, ride bike 7 miles, and run/walk 1 mile.
Juniors - Swim freestyle 200 yards without stopping, ride bike 12 miles and run 2 miles.
